Les Gets – kids skiing grand cry Ski Lifts
No more panic or tears about lifts on Day 1. Just 100m from Chalet Perdu, take the Telecabin beside the express lift especailly if the children are very young or are beginners – this arrives right at the Magic Carpet beginner area. Its also where ski school finishes. The adjacent high speed Chavannes lift will slow down for children too so dont worry. The Chavannes chair lift gives access to the area just above the Magic Carpet and from there its just 20m to The Indian Territory, a secure, fun filled, dedicated childrens ski domian – lots of treelined runs, jumps through the trees, teppees, facepainting, indian drums beating and coyotes howling -husky sleighs – lots of fun

Childrens Lift Pass
Les Gets offers a family discount of 10% to all children under 15 and their parents. Simply purchase on line at www.lesgets.com and the passes are delivered to your home address. Les Gets operates a handsfree electronic lift pass system- the card slots into a zipped pocket on the cuff or trouser leg- it’s then read automatically each time the children stand beside the scanning screen at the lift.

Keeping Warm
At the end of ski school, there is a rush to the restaurants at the magic carpet area. Its where all the families with young children meet up, nannies can bring tiny children up via the telecabin to join the family and here too grand parents who are not skiing can relax through the day and enjoy the atmosphere on the mountain At the chalet you will find a list of the restaurants and telephone numbers to reserve an indoor table. The restaurants are child friendly and a good warm meal will ensure happy afternoon family skiing. Alternatively ski back or take the Telecabin back to the village and settle the children at the chalet over lunch – there is a nursery slope and drag lift beside the chalet if an afternoon in the mountains is too much.

New for this season. Escape the queues, Chalet Perdu will provide a buffet lunch on 5 days during school holidays. Simply ski back, walk 50m in ski boots and come into the warmth of Chalet Perdu. Its a chance to cost costs, relax or catch up on emails and ensure that everyone is relaxed and warm for the afternoon.

Chalet Perdu does not invoice for ski equipment and in this way the savings are passed directly to you. Payment is made at the end of your stay directly to Ski Funshop – Chalet Perdu and The Mazot guests receive 25% off resort prices. Equipment can be ordered in advance on line at www.skifunshop.com and this is recommended at peak holiday times or you can walk down and choose when you arrive at Chalet Perdu. The chalet staff will be there to give you help and advice. There is flexibility to ensure that you can change boots, skis and boards. Nicolas and his staff provide a top quality, efficient service and all the latest models are available. English is spoken and children are treated with care and patience. Children wear helmets and there are different sizes and colours available to hire or alternatively there are helmets to purchase at around E80. Simply walk 100m from the chalet each morning in non slip boots and pull on ski boots, collect skis and unbelievably its just 15m to ski school, the Telecabin (beginners) or the high speed lift to the higher slopes. There is a small nursery slope beside the chalet too. In the afternoon ski back down the Chavannes piste, click off your skis and walk across to the ski garage. Your skis and boots will be allocated a number for the week. Next its back to the chalet for afternoon tea, into the spa or its a 20m stroll to the pub.

All Chalet Perdu and Le Mazot guests receive 25% discount in resort. It is important to know your height in centimetres and your weight in kilos to ensure your ski bindings can be set correctly.

Chalet Perdu does not sell lift passes. Guests purchase directly from the operator and all savings are passed directly to you. The lift pass office is just 100m from Chalet Perdu. It is simple to purchase on arrival or you may order online www,skipass-lesgets.com and have the lift passes delivered to your home address. The lift pass covers use of the Petit Train and bus service around the village and also use of the outdoor ice rink.

Electronic Swipe System – Les Gets operates a hands free lift system. The pass is in the form of a credit card which is inserted in your jacket sleeve or pocket and is read automatically as you pass through the turnstile. The credit card option is issued automatically on line but you pay a small additional fee in resort to have the hands free pass rather than the cardboard ticket – always opt for the hands free for children as the cardboard tickets are easily lost, disintegrate in the snow and are tricky to use.

Insurance – You have an option to purchase additional winter insurance, this is good value and covers off piste and also accidents in the village – 3 Euro per day. With this insurance you do not need to prepay your medical expenses. If you have existing personal winter sports cover it is necessary to carry a credit card at all times as medical care on the mountain has to be paid for immediately

The local pass is less expensive and its unlikely that anyone with children or adults staying in Les Gets for the first time or guests on a short break would choose the large Portes du Soleil pass as it is a lot of skiing (ask for separate info on skiing the Portes du Soleil). The Portes du Soleil ski terrain is the largest in the world covering 650km –but it is possible to ski to all the resorts in one day!

Daily or weekly purchase choices – The longer the period you buy the cheaper the daily rate is. However if you ski casually and maybe want a later start to the skiing day opt for a daily pass. There are reduced tariffs after 11am and 1pm. Chalet Perdu is 100m from the lift pass office and the chalet staff will help you to decide. The resort staff speak English and French. If you arrive early on Day 1 just buy a half day pass and get going

Watch out for early booking offers before September. Season passes can be purchased on line and this is really worth while if you ski in Les Gets for more than a week, maybe a week with your family, a short break with friends and a romantic weekend for two? Family discounts, group discounts, childrens promotions and kids ski free

Lots of choice, British and French ski schools see links for contacts – meeting point 100m from 4* Chalet Perdu. Private lessons are fantastic if you want to learn at speed.
