Hot tubs in Les Gets

Hot tubs in Les Gets

The biggest problem when operating a hot tub in a ski resort is keeping the tub perfectly clean. Its difficult to balance the chemicals when so many guests use the tub.  Fake tan and makeup are the biggest headache but last winter at Chalet Perdu & The Mazot we cracked the problem – its nothing to do with chlorine, actually you need very little of it, its all about Ph.  In les Gets the secret is using a PH minus solution and keeping on top of the Ph level daily

We change the hot tub water every week and half fill again with fresh water midweek, extravagant when water is so expensive  in Les Gets but the results are fantastic. Watch out for ice forming around the tub when changing the water

In Les Gets during New Year week and in February the village and Chalet Perdu are at 100% capacity. This means the power usage in the village after skiing is immense. Imagine every restaurant cooking, every guest having a shower, every hot tub in use and all the street lights and decorations looking stunning. What you end up with is a shortage of power, some chalets on the Mont Chery side suffer badly. At Chalet Perdu we are on the main run beside the lift and town hall. We continually check our power allocation. The Chalet Perdu power management system recognises when power is low and it starts to cut out the least essential elements at Chalet Perdu. The hot tub uses a huge amount of power so I allocate most of the resources to that and the kitchen at peak demand times.  Chalet Perdu is on the maximum tariff from EDF and cannot have 3 phase so its a matter of continual monitoring.  All to the pursuit of a creating a luxury ski chalet with a hot tub
